Internships
-
A practical training component of variable duration is integrated in most German "Diplom" and Bachelor's degree study programmes at the HTW, usually in the form of a practical training term. You may do your internship in Germany or abroad; for some study programmes, an internship abroad is obligatory (only for German students though).

Formal Issues
Formal issues regarding conducting internships are regulated in the regulation guidelines for internships (Rahmenpraktikumsordnung)
, which also contain a model contract for interns. Additional or digressive regulations are specified in the study regulations of the individual study programmes, particularly those regulations pertaining to practical training contents, point in time of the internship, or accreditation of previous practical experience.
Because each department and study programme has its own individual requirements regarding procedure, deadlines, internship applications and the like, they usually offer additional information on internships at their own websites. Please be sure to check those sites for more information.
In addition, the internship advisor from your study programme can provide information on any issues regarding your internship. In any case you are to fill in the application form for the internship accompanying the course of study [PDF] and hand in a certificate as evidence of the successful completion to the examination office.
