Foreign Language Centre

You can get in touch with the Foreign Language Centre (ZEFS) for any questions concerning training in foreign languages.

We offer courses in eight different languages:

Courses through the advanced foreign language level (GER C1/C2) in English, French, Russian, Spanish and German as a foreign language
Basic level courses in Italian, Japanese and Swedish

We also offer intensive holiday courses that can be accredited if they are completed with an examination..

Language Training

The foreign languages belong to the group of electives. The curriculum can be found in the respective study regulations.

Registering for Classes and Examinations

For the present, the regulations for registering for foreign language classes and examinations differ from the standard procedure used throughout the rest of the university.

Certificates

The Foreign Language Centre is a member of the AKS (Arbeitskreis der Sprachenzentren, Sprachlehrinstitute und Fremdspracheninstitute; working committee of language centres, language training departments and foreign language institutes) and, in this capacity, is accredited to hold UNIcert® examinations. In addition, the ZEFS is an authorised test centre for TORFL, TOEFL, TOEIC, TestDaF and DSH exams. The ZEFS also offers preparatory courses for completing other internationally recognised certificates.

Media Centre

For self-study purposes, a wealth of textbooks, reference books, audio, television and video technology, and two multimedia PCs equipped with software for language exercises are all available to you at the Media Centre.

Council of the Foreign Language Centre

The council of the ZEFS decides on all fundamental issues pertaining to the ZEFS. The ZEFS Board is accountable to this body.
