Examination Issues

Examination issues are coordinated by the Examination Office for all students of the HTW Berlin who study on-location at the university.

All exam-relevant decisions are made by the Examination Board of the student's study programme in accordance with the regulation guidelines and respective study and examination regulations of the study programme, which have been explicitly assigned to the student at the start of her studies.

Examination Office Competency

You can contact the staff of the Examination Office for professional consultation in all matters regarding examinations, especially:
  • registering for examinations;
  • checking for repeatability of coursework and examination attempts;
  • marks and transcripts;
  • application for admittance to German "Diplom"/Bachelor's/Master's final thesis procedure;
  • clearing up any matters regarding accredited academic credits or subjects that still have to be taken after having transferred from another university or internal study programme, cases of interrupting studies or delays in study progression;
  • official removal from student registry due to irrevocably failed coursework/exams;
  • issue of duplicates and authentication/notarisation of certificates and diplomas.

Department Competency

Your Department Administration or Examination Board is your contact partner for the following issues relevant to examinations:
  • absence from or cancellation of examinations and notation of such in examination lists (notice of hindrance from examinations in cases of illness);
  • processing of proficiency certificates pursuant to Paragraph 48 BAföG grant - form no. 5;
  • processing of applications for justified objections to marks/scores or study progress assessments;
  • mandatory examination counselling;
  • German "Diplom", Bachelor's and Master's theses - authorisation for sitting for final exams;
  • changes in title or topic, rejection of topic or deadline extension for final thesis;
  • submission of final thesis.
