Information for First-Term Students
-
As a newly enrolled student of the HTW Berlin, there is a special regulation which guarantees you a place in every class of your first term of study.
-
Sample Course Schedules
Your study programme has compiled so-called sample course schedules that make it possible to take all classes without any overlaps. Based on one of these sample course schedules, the HTW Berlin has registered you for all compulsory subjects including a standard variation for foreign languages. You can view your schedule in the LSF portal in the sub-section "Persönlicher Stundenplan" (personal course schedule): http://lsf.htw-berlin.de.
-
Changing Your Classes
During phase one and three of registration, you may change these classes. However, it can no longer be ensured that you will receive a place for the current term, because if you opt to change your classes, you will then automatically participate in the "open" allocation procedure for placement. Whenever you withdraw from a class, you lose your right to your place in that class.

Supplementary General Academic Electives and Languages ("AWE")
If your course schedule foresees electives in your first term, i.e. supplementary general academic subjects (so-called "AWE" electives) or foreign languages, then you can register for these classes yourself during phase one and three provided there are still free places. If you want to take a foreign language course in a language other than the standard variation in your sample course schedule (normally English), then you must also register for this yourself. Please be sure to withdraw from the original class in your sample course schedule, so that a fellow student can have your place!
If you wish to take another language class - a so-called second language - in addition to the standard variation in your sample course schedule, then you are also required to register for this yourself. Please observe the corresponding stipulations in your study and examination regulations. If you have any questions, the Foreign Language Centre will be happy to help you further.
