Application for Exchange Students

Please note that there are closing dates for applications at HTW Berlin as well as internal deadlines at your home university. If you would like to start your studies at HTW Berlin during winter semester (September - February) your home university will have to send your complete application documents until May 15th of the same year. If you wish to begin your studies during the summer semester (March - July), your home university will have to send your complete application documents until November 15th of the previous year.

APPLICATION PROCESS
The application process consists of three steps. All three steps have tobe completed in time so that your students can be accepted as exchangestudents at HTW Berlin.

Online Application period: from 15th to 31st October, 2012 *The students can apply online from 15/10/2012 to 31/10/2012.
Winter 2013/2014
Online Application period: from 15th to 30st April, 2013 *The students can apply online from 15/04/2013 to 30/04/2013

3. Sending of original application documents:
Summer 2013 --> till 15th November, 2012
Winter 2013/2014 --> till 15th May, 2013

We can only accept complete applications that include the following documents:

• Application Form
• 2 passport fotos
• Learning Agreement (LA)
• Transcript of Records (has to be provided by your home university)
• Proof of German Language ability (B1)
• Health Insurance Certificate for your whole time of your stay in Germany (for EU students: copy of your European Health Insurance Card); Non-EU students are obliged to procure insurance with a German state insurance company at the welcome meeting at HTW Berlin
• for Non-EU students : copy of your Pass/Visa

For a general orientation in regards to planning your studies at HTW Berlin you can download the academic calendar with important dates at the download site.

After our official application deadline and after persuing your application and study qualifications you will receive a first info letter and the letter of acceptance. This letter includes all important details that you need for paying of the security money for your dorm and the semester fees. In an Email we will send you the second letter with more detailed information on your room reservation at the dorm and the orientation weeks.

The semester fees per semester have been composed as followed:

The semester ticket entitles the owner for the use of all means of public transport within the A, B and C zone of Berlin throughout the term. Every student has to pay the semester ticket. Based on the bilateral agreement with HTW Berlin’s partner universities however, foreign exchange students do not have to pay matriculation or study fees.

Because of the obligatory orientation weeks that the International Office organizes for you, you should plan on arriving three weeks prior the official start of the semester. Lectures in winter semester start on the 1st of October, in summer semester on the 1st of April. Hence we expect your arrival in the middle of September and March respectively.
