Work Permits for Foreign Students in Germany
Foreign students who are not from the EU or European economic area (EEA, also includes Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland) normally receive a work permit for 90 days or 180 half days per year. These students are not allowed to work while attending the “Studienkolleg” (preparatory course).
Students from the EU or EEA have practically free access to the German labour market. Detailed information on the subject of work permits can be found on the labour law page of the website of the 'Deutsches Studentenwerk' (German student services)..
Please keep in mind that part-time jobs are limited in Berlin and also require solid knowledge of the German language.
