Re-enrolment

-

To re-enrol for the next semester, the total semester fee has to be paid into the HTW account during the official re-enrolment period.

To continue your studies at HTW in the upcoming semester, you must re-enrol in due time by paying the current semester fee into the HTW account. Payment must have been received in the HTW bank account within the official period for re-enrolment.

If it is your first time enrolment, you will have received a payment request together with your initial letter of admission. Please proceed as described in this letter.

For every semester after that you will NOT receive a separate invitation to re-enrol for the following semester. Instead it is your own obligation to find out about the payment details at the end of your current semester and make sure that you transfer the correct amount of your semester fee into the HTW bank account within the official period for re-enrolment as set forth in the academic calendar.

The dates and deadlines of re-enrolment for the next semester are also printed on the backside of your current student ID card. Just have a look.

After your payment has been received in the HTW bank account, it will be allocated to your students account and you will automatically be re-enrolled for the upcoming term.

Your new student ID card (including the new semester ticket) for the upcoming term will automatically be sent out by regular mail to your postal address approximately two to three weeks before the start of the new semester (i.e. in Mid-March/Mid-September of each year).

Also, make sure to always leave your current and valid postal address, because the new student ID cards will automatically be sent out to the address you left at the Office of Admissions and Enrolment.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Irrespective of your correct payment of the semester fee, you will only be allowed to re-enrol for the upcoming term, if you have fulfilled all general enrolment requirements such as submitting:
  • a valid health insurance
  • a valid residence permit
  • a valid postal address

Make sure to always leave copies of all relevant documents at your competent contact person at the Office of Admissions and Enrolment, and immediately inform them of any changes in your current status.

Furthermore, you will be allowed to re-register for the next semester only if you fulfilled all pre-conditions that may have been imposed on you upon your initial admission to HTW: for example the completion of pre-study internship weeks that had been still outstanding, pending examination consultations, proof of required German or English language proficiency, submission of your final degree certificate and so on.

In any of those cases, you will have received an information letter from HTW beforehand with the specific request that you submit the outstanding documents in order to continue your studies at HTW. If you still failed to deliver the missing documents within the deadlines for re-enrolment, you will automatically be exmatriculated at the end of the preceding term, i.e. the term for which you have been last official registered.

Students in Their Final Semester

Students that will complete their study programme in the up-coming term have an additional option (not applicable to students of Public Management): In case they already submitted their master thesis in this current semester, and only have to do their colloquium (final oral examination) in the up-coming term, they can choose not to re-register for the up-coming term and this way save the complete semester fee amount. In this case, they will not receive a new students ID card (which also means: no semester ticket) for the up-coming term and will be officially exmatriculated at the beginning of the up-coming term, but their right to do the colloquium will remain unaffected. If they do not want to make use of this option and instead still pay in the complete semester fee for the upcoming term, they will receive a new students ID card and semester ticket at the beginning of the up-coming term.

If you are officially exmatriculated you will lose your student status and are required to announce this fact to your health insurance company/fund, employer, family benefits office, labour office or any other offiical authorities.
