THE APPLICATION DEADLINES
Attention! These are cut-off deadlines! You can only apply WITHIN those deadlines!
(uni-assist applicants can start their application process earlier!)

THE APPLICATION PROCEDURE
If you obtained your university entrance qualification (UEQ) abroad and want to apply for a Bachelor programme at HTW Berlin, you have to apply via uni-assist (Arbeits- und Servicestelle für internationale Studienbewerbungen e.V.). This does also apply to Germans who obtained their university entrance qualification abroad, and does also apply, if you are already immatriculated at another German university and want to transfer into a bachelor programme at HTW Berlin.
Uni-assist will charge a fee from you for the examination of your application documents. However, if you paid this fee you can apply with one set of application documents at all university in Germany who cooperate with uni-assist. You will find a list of all those universities and also all information on the application procedure and application form at: uni-assist
Please fill in the uni-assist application form and send your complete application documents within the aforementioned application periods directly to uni-assist at the following postal address:

or use the advantages of the online portal for university applicants.
Please note that our application periods are cut-off periods. This means applications after the deadlines are not possible. The date of receipt of your documents counts, not the date of the postal stamp.
Please also observe the special application periods and procedures for aptitude tests.

You must submit a number of documents as paper copies to uni-assist. Down below it is explained in more detail which documents exactly will be required from you.

1. General Certificates
- Certificate from School education and university/college credentials from your native country
- Copies of your reports and credentials must also be submitted with your application to the HTW.

- Accreditation of all school leaving and university/college certificates from your native country is only necessary if your certificate is not listed under www.anabin.de

- Applicants from China, Vietnam and Mongolia have to submit a APS-Certificate.

- Certification of the “Feststellungsprüfung” (assessment test)
- The assessment test is only necessary if your certificates are not eligible to the German university entrance examination (Abitur).

2. Certificates Required for Specific Study Programmes
- Certification of a passed aptitude test
- for the study courses Communications Design, Fashion Design and Conservation-Restoration/ Field Archaeology.

- English language proficiency certificate on C1 level

3. Special Documents for Applicants Who Already Studied at another University in Germany or abroad
- Previous study credits from other German universities
- If you are currently a registered student at another university in Germany, or if you have been in the past, you are obliged by law to submit complete documentation about your previous studies within the application period. This documentation contains: an up-to-date grade transcript with stamp and signature from all previous universities, which shows all study credits and grades (and also your failed examinations and all examinations that you registered for but did not attend), and descriptions of the contents of all courses listed on that grade transcript. We will also need an indication of thesemester hous of each of the courses. For more information, please see the leaflet information on university transfer [PDF, 40 KB]
- Previous study credits from universities outside of Germany
- If you have never before been a registered student at another German university but have alread studied abroad, you can choose whether you want to have your previous study credits accredited towards your study at HTW Berlin. Firstly, you should compare your past credentials with the coursework in your intended study programme.

4. Special Applications
- Hardship cases, improvement of waiting period or average mark
- Please check if this applies to you before filing an application. In general, documented proof of all specifications made in such applications must be provided. Please read through the application’s contents and consult us for advice in case of doubt

If you have already completed a bachelor programme at German university and want to apply at HTW Berlin for another bachelor programme, you do not have to apply via uni-assist. Instead, please refer to the section "Bewerbungen" on our German language homepage: Bewerbung

- Explaining your personal reasons for wanting to study another degree on the same academic level.
